This interactive exhibition features hundreds of objects\, photographs\, artworks and films from the Yarrila Arts and Museum collection. A key highlight of Yaamanga (around here) is the short film\, Daalga Nginundi Wajaarr (Sing Your Country)\, which is informed by Yuludarla’s (Gumbaynggirr Creator) journey from north to south exploring miirlarl (sacred places)\, culture and history through song and cinema. The piece is a celebration of language and its revival and is an invitation for all people to learn the story of this place. It explores untold histories of Country; its triumphs and its sorrow and the dialogue Gumbaynggirr people have every day with her.Daalga Nginundi Wajaarr (Sing Your Country) was created by Alison Page and Nik Lachajczak of ZAKPAGE. The score is a reworking of a medley of traditional songs by Gumbaynggirr artist\, Birrugan Dunn-Velasco\, with the inclusion of post-modern instrumentation and sounds from Country.This artwork is dedicated to the Gumbaynggirr people; it is their ancestral lands upon which we live and work; they who are so generous with their cultural knowledge and lore in the making of this film. \n\n\n\nA still image captured from Daalga Nginundi Wajaarr Sing Your Country\n\n\n\n\n\nFind out more about Daalga Nginundi Wajarr Sing your Country

STILL 2023 invited fresh and contemporary explorations of still life themes to highlight the diversity and vitality of still life in Australian contemporary art\, broadening the interpretation of this enduring genre. \n\n\n\nStill: National Still Life Award 2023 has a prize pool of $35\,000 \n\n\n\nThe $35\,000 includes the following: \n\n\n\n$30\,000 Acquisitive Winner’s Award \n\n\n\n$3\,000 People’s Choice Award \n\n\n\n2 x $1\,000 Highly Commended Awards \n\n\n\nThe exhibition is now open; the winner was selected and announced by Guest Judge Max Delany\, Artistic Director & CEO\, Australian Centre for Contemporary Art. The People’s Choice Award\, voted by visitors to the exhibition\, will be announced towards the end of the exhibition. \n\n\n\nSTILL 2023 is the first award exhibition to be presented at the new Yarrila Arts and Museum (YAM) and has been curated by Guest Curator\, Sandra Conte. \n\n\n\nSandra Conte is based in the Glasshouse Mountains\, Kabi Kabi country and is embracing the beauty of the lands of the Gumbaynggirr people at Coffs Harbour\, curating the fourth iteration of STILL. An independent curator and arts consultant with a wealth of intercultural experience Australia-wide\, Conte has developed new galleries and worked across multiple Universities\, in directorial and curatorial roles\, on projects at local\, state\, federal\, and national touring\, levels. A range of positions include an early career role as Foundation Director and Curator of Caloundra Regional Art Gallery to Visual Arts Manager and Curator\, Tandanya (National Aboriginal Cultural Institute)\, Adelaide.
