SUMMARY:Yaamanga (around here)
DESCRIPTION:Take a Moment in July \n \n \n\nProgram\, Workshop \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\nYaamanga (around here) installation view\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n Program\, Workshop \n \n Take a Moment in July \n When\n \n 29 Jul 202612:00 pm – 1:30 pm \n \n Reserve your spot	\n \n \n\nYaamanga (around here) is an ongoing exhibition exploring the history and identity of the Coffs Coast through themes of place\, community and belonging\, with Gumbaynggirr culture at its heart. This interactive exhibition features hundreds of objects\, photographs\, artworks and films from the Yarrila Arts and Museum collection. A key highlight of Yaamanga (around here) is the short film\, Daalga Nginundi Wajaarr (Sing Your Country)\, which is informed by Yuludarla’s (Gumbaynggirr Creator) journey from north to south exploring miirlarl (sacred places)\, culture and history through song and cinema. The piece is a celebration of language and its revival and is an invitation for all people to learn the story of this place. It explores untold histories of Country; its triumphs and its sorrow and the dialogue Gumbaynggirr people have every day with her.Daalga Nginundi Wajaarr (Sing Your Country) was created by Alison Page and Nik Lachajczak of ZAKPAGE. The score is a reworking of a medley of traditional songs by Gumbaynggirr artist\, Birrugan Dunn-Velasco\, with the inclusion of post-modern instrumentation and sounds from Country. This artwork is dedicated to the Gumbaynggirr people; it is their ancestral lands upon which we live and work; they who are so generous with their cultural knowledge and lore in the making of this film. \n\n\n\nA still image captured from Daalga Nginundi Wajaarr Sing Your Country\n\n\n\n\n\nFind out more about Daalga Nginundi Wajarr Sing your Country

SUMMARY:John Tuckwell: A Survey
DESCRIPTION:Take a Moment in July \n \n \n\nProgram\, Workshop \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\nJohn Tuckwell\, The birds are out\, 2022\, porcelain. Photography by Gloria Malone. Image courtesy of the artist.\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n Program\, Workshop \n \n Take a Moment in July \n When\n \n 29 Jul 202612:00 pm – 1:30 pm \n \n Reserve your spot	\n \n \n\nJohn Tuckwell: A Survey celebrates the thoughtfully crafted porcelain vessels of Bellingen-based artist and respected potter John Tuckwell. John’s work captures the interplay of light\, colour\, and texture\, drawing inspiration from local landscapes\, abstract forms\, and the materiality of porcelain itself. The painterly surfaces and translucent porcelain reflect both the natural world and John’s personal experiences. From elegant early works to more layered\, constructed forms created after a life-changing stroke\, this exhibition showcases the evolution of a practice shaped by place\, adaptation and innovation.

SUMMARY:Jodie Whalen: We already know how to build a time machine
DESCRIPTION:Take a Moment in July \n \n \n\nProgram\, Workshop \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\nJodie Whalen\, We already know how to build a time machine\, 2023\, video still\, HD video\, with sound\, 16:9\, 4:58 min. Image courtesy of the artist.\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n Program\, Workshop \n \n Take a Moment in July \n When\n \n 29 Jul 202612:00 pm – 1:30 pm \n \n Reserve your spot	\n \n \n\nWe already know how to build a time machine – proposition offers viewers a site to contemplate belief and transformation. Driven by a desire to give physical form to the intangibility of fraught emotional states such as grief\, anger\, fear\, love and hopefulness\, the artist uses repetition\, replication and degradation of imagery\, sounds and motifs to explore how meaning moves through\, and translates between forms. This ongoing project includes the new components Mutable XLI/I and Mutable XLI/II\, which are site specific to the Mid North Coast\, a landscape of great importance to the artist’s personal history and her current video and sound installations.
