DESCRIPTION:People’s Choice Award Archibald Prize 2025		\n		\n			Voting opens Thursday 6 August 6:00pm and closes Wednesday 9 September 4:00pmSurvey		\n					\n							\n			\n\n\n\n\nYaamanga (around here) installation view\n\n\n\n\n		\n					\n				\n					Survey				\n				\n					People’s Choice Award Archibald Prize 2025				\n				When\n				\n					Voting opens Thursday 6 August 6:00pm and closes Wednesday 9 September 4:00pm									\n			\n							\n		\n		\n\nYaamanga (around here) is an ongoing exhibition exploring the history and identity of the Coffs Coast through themes of place\, community and belonging\, with Gumbaynggirr culture at its heart. This interactive exhibition features hundreds of objects\, photographs\, artworks and films from the Yarrila Arts and Museum collection. A key highlight of Yaamanga (around here) is the short film\, Daalga Nginundi Wajaarr (Sing Your Country)\, which is informed by Yuludarla’s (Gumbaynggirr Creator) journey from north to south exploring miirlarl (sacred places)\, culture and history through song and cinema. The piece is a celebration of language and its revival and is an invitation for all people to learn the story of this place. It explores untold histories of Country; its triumphs and its sorrow and the dialogue Gumbaynggirr people have every day with her.Daalga Nginundi Wajaarr (Sing Your Country) was created by Alison Page and Nik Lachajczak of ZAKPAGE. The score is a reworking of a medley of traditional songs by Gumbaynggirr artist\, Birrugan Dunn-Velasco\, with the inclusion of post-modern instrumentation and sounds from Country.This artwork is dedicated to the Gumbaynggirr people; it is their ancestral lands upon which we live and work; they who are so generous with their cultural knowledge and lore in the making of this film. \n\n\n\nA still image captured from Daalga Nginundi Wajaarr Sing Your Country\n\n\n\n\n\nFind out more about Daalga Nginundi Wajarr Sing your Country

In this in-between realm\, the invisible histories of the body – its stored sensations\, memories and energies – are made perceptible\, emerging through the layering and interaction of forms.

With time spent working both freely and on the easels\, young artists will build confidence\, develop skills and be encouraged to explore their own ideas in a supportive and imaginative environment.  \n\n\n\nEach week\, students begin with a guided gallery visit with an artist educator\, exploring artworks and ideas as inspiration. This is followed by studio-based artmaking activities ranging from painting and drawing to sculpture and mixed media\, where participants experiment with materials\, learn new techniques\, and develop their own creative responses.  \n\n\n\nLocation: Yarrila Arts and Museum  Dates:  8-week intensive after school program during Term 3\, 29 July – 16 September 2026Time: 4:00 – 5:00pmCost: $100 for the 8-week programAges: 8 – 12 year oldsAll materials provided\, aprons available but old clothes recommended.  \n\n\n\nCreative Kids vouchers accepted. Vouchers can be redeemed during the Eventbrite booking process.
