SUMMARY:Fluid Floor Talk - Women in Surf
DESCRIPTION:Fluid Floor Talk – Women in Surf \n \n \n\nExhibition \n \n Join local women surfers for a tour of Swell Chasers: Surf Stories of the Mid North Coast. \n \n\n\n\n\nImage credit: Courtesy of Helene Enevoldson\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n Exhibition \n \n Kirsty Lee | Between the Horizon and Here\n \n When\n \n 16 Jul – 18 Aug 2024 \n \n AdmissionFree entry Plan your visit	\n \n \n\nJoin local women surfers Helene Enevoldson\, Margi Burns and Lyn Worland as they share their diverse personal experiences and involvement in the local surf scene. They will be joined by YAM Senior Curator Vanessa Jacob who will facilitate the discussion. \n\n\n\nWomen have been integral to the development of the Mid North Coast surfing scene; however\, they have often been underappreciated or overlooked. \n\n\n\nDespite their incredible skill and dedication\, female surfers have faced significant barriers\, with their achievements often sidelined by domestic responsibilities or overshadowed by a male dominated surfing culture\, with many of them only being celebrated later in life. \n\n\n\nWhile times have changed and recognition has grown\, the fight for equality in surfing continues. It’s essential to celebrate the achievements of these pioneering women while also telling the truth about their experiences\, both past and present. Their stories of resilience and triumph serve to inspire future generations of female surfers who continue to carve their space in the waves. \n\n\n\nTime: 10:30am – 11:30am \n\n\n\nDate: Saturday 1 Feb 2025Cost: Free event – Bookings Recommended \n\n\n\nMeet at YAM reception\, Ground floor\, Yarrila Place
