This interactive exhibition features hundreds of objects\, photographs\, artworks and films from the Yarrila Arts and Museum collection. A key highlight of Yaamanga (around here) is the short film\, Daalga Nginundi Wajaarr (Sing Your Country)\, which is informed by Yuludarla’s (Gumbaynggirr Creator) journey from north to south exploring miirlarl (sacred places)\, culture and history through song and cinema. The piece is a celebration of language and its revival and is an invitation for all people to learn the story of this place. It explores untold histories of Country; its triumphs and its sorrow and the dialogue Gumbaynggirr people have every day with her.Daalga Nginundi Wajaarr (Sing Your Country) was created by Alison Page and Nik Lachajczak of ZAKPAGE. The flowers are eternally repeating the process of life and death. When people move in front of the artwork\, the flowers scatter all at once. But when people stand still\, flowers bloom and grow more abundantly.The artwork is not a pre-recorded image that is played back: it is created by a computer program that continuously renders the work in real time. The interaction between people and the installation causes continuous change in the artwork: previous visual states can never be replicated\, and will never reoccur. The picture at this moment can never be seen again.In spring in the Kunisaki Peninsula\, there are many cherry blossoms in the mountains and canola blossoms at their base. This experience of nature caused teamLab to wonder how many of these flowers were planted by people and how many were native to the environment. It is a place of great serenity and contentment\, but the expansive body of flowers is an ecosystem influenced by human intervention\, and the boundary between the work of nature and the work of humans is unclear. Rather than nature and humans being in conflict\, a healthy ecosystem is one that includes people. In the past\, people understood that they could not grasp nature in its entirety\, and that it is not possible to control nature. People lived more closely aligned to the rules of nature that created a comfortable natural environment. teamLab believe that these valleys hold faint traces of this premodern relationship with nature that once existed\, and we hope to explore a form of human intervention based on the premise that nature cannot be controlled.

While there’s no formal instruction\, Seabastion will be drawing and painting alongside participants – offering a behind-the-scenes look at her personal process and approach to figurative art.  \n\n\n\nEach session is gently facilitated to ensure a supportive and respectful environment\, making it the perfect setting to experiment\, grow\, or simply enjoy a few uninterrupted hours of creative flow.  \n\n\n\nSessions are ticketed individually and run once a month. Using a mix of found organic materials\, inks\, and selected man-made tools\, participants will experiment with mark-making and intuitive drawing techniques that respond to the textures\, patterns\, and life forms found in the gardens.  \n\n\n\nThis workshop encourages playful experimentation\, close observation\, and a deeper connection with the natural world. Flowers\, a central motif in both teamLab’s work and the future of our planet\, will be a key focus for the expressive drawing.  \n\n\n\nLocation: Starts at YAM and continues at the North Coast Regional Botanic Garden\, Coffs Harbour  \n\n\n\nDate: Saturday 23 August   \n\n\n\nTime: 10:30am – 2pm  \n\n\n\nCost: $65 per participant – all materials provided (Lunch not supplied)  \n\n\n\nAge: Adults (16+) or younger teens accompanied by a paying adult.  \n\n\n\nBookings are essential. Limited spaces available.  \n\n\n\nParticipants need to bring their own lunch\, snacks\, and water.  \n\n\n\nWet weather option: Make Space Level 1\, Yarrila Arts and Museum with supplied botanicals instead of a visit to the North Coast Regional Botanic Garden.
